Prayer Partners update 5/27/05 (cc)

Dear Prayer Partners,

I have some news. However please understand when the Lord moves He only means it for His good even if I am struggling with this news. After some prayerful reflection, I now see the Lord’s hand moving me to the next chapter. I have been doing a lot of reflecting lately because June 10th would have been one year as a volunteer to JAARS. I will be ending my affiliation as a volunteer.

I want to express my heart felt gratitude to the fellowship of friends at JAARS, for all of their emotional and spiritual support this year. I believe I have made some deep and life-long friendships there. Bonds like these will not be broken just because the Lord has called me to another ministry. Before arriving at JAARS, I prayed, “Lord, use JAARS to grow me.” The fellowship at JAARS helped me through many growing experiences. For that I want to give the glory to God and say to them personally, thank you.

I want to express my thanks to my roommates, Frank Hawfield, Duke Simpson, and Glenn Blauser. My roommates gave me the support that was well beyond the call of duty. My ministry at JAARS may not have been possible without their help to me in many ways. I will be making decisions about relocating shortly.

I want to express my heart felt gratitude to my home church in New Jersey and my local church in Charlotte. They have taught me in tangible ways how the grace of God can embrace your walk with the Lord. We are so focused on prayer that His grace is evident in our lives.

K.P. Yohannan of GFA (Gospel For Asia) spoke on the topic of brokenness at the conference in Maryland on Tuesday afternoon. Click here: http://www.gfa.org/gfa/aboutkp I learned a great lesson about failure in ministry from his message. Failure can be the best vessel for the Lord to lead us to brokenness; and the Lord can use my brokenness to build His kingdom. My lack of focus on my assigned role, and spending time on what JAARS perceived as my personal or outside agenda were reasons given for terminating my work at JAARS. Yet my failure and brokenness may be used to His glory. I have no regrets because I made a contribution. I believe this year has been one of preparedness for greater service to build the Kingdom.

What is the next chapter? The Lord has given me some small hints. My pastor is suggesting a time of tent building. My primary supporter (prayer partner) is suggesting giving a greater priority to the completion of my Masters degree. Other ministry opportunities will always be there especially, at my church. On a personal level, Daryl Beltz, the Director of JAARS Public Relations, has invited me to participate in future Short Term Mission Trips with JAARS. If you care to support me financial on these trips then you may still send donations, please see below. My heart is still for Bible Translation as confirmed by the Lord on the last trip. I will be wrapping up loose ends at JAARS quickly. Please pray for my new direction.

I want to give a special word of thanks for all my Prayer Partners and for this year of encouragement and support. Your prayers made the Lord’s will in my ministry visible and obtainable.

In blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ,

Daniel K. “Dan” King

Prayer Partner update 5/12/05 (s)

Dear Prayer Partners,

The presentation and video to the JAARS Center on the Philippines trip was received very well. A few people expressed an interest in going on a Short Term mission trip. I am finding myself naturally falling into conservations about Short Term missions. It is exciting to think about all of the possibilities to serve the Lord on a mission trip.

My next trip will be to Maryland and New Jersey beginning May 20. At a pastor’s conference I will be representing JAARS Public Relations department with programs for Short Term Mission Trips, Jungle Jump Off and Missions At The Airport. The display table will include literature from other Wycliffe Bible Translators ministries as well. The Calvary Chapel of Mexico has also given me literature to promote their ministries. The speakers at the conference were listed as Chuck Smith, Mike MacIntosh, K.P. Yohannan and Louis Neely. Chuck Smith will definitely not be at the conference, his doctors are advising him against flying. Don McClure and possibly Greg Laurie will be there.

This trip has a dual purpose for church relations to JAARS and for Partnership Development to my personal ministry. My home church in New Jersey has invited me to show a video from my Philippines trip on May 22. Another church in New Jersey is considering supporting my ministry and I may have an opportunity visit them as well.

Please pray for my transportation needs in that our Mazda broke down on the Interstate. My roommate, Frank, and I are working through these repair issues together.

A second prayer request is for my financial needs. I have a significant need in monthly support to meet budgeted expenses. Secondly, although I had received several verbal pledges for my last mission trip, we have not had any more receipts. The outstanding balance is $900.00. Lastly, I had handed out the entire 100 prayer cards; to order more will cost $180.00 for 200.

To join this life-changing partnership in my ministry with Wycliffe Associates serving at JAARS as a financial partner, chose a Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly or Other amount. For financial gifts, please send to the address below and on memo line include: Funding Code 8160

Request for my sister (resend)

Dear Prayer Partners,

Beth, my sister, had been in remission for breast cancer; but it has now metastasized into bone. Breast cancer took my mother 20 years ago. Please prayer for Beth's healing and that I would know how to comfort her. My father has been remission from cancer for the better part of a decade.

The itinerary of my mission trip may change to accommodate a visit to my sister in the Detroit area. The Lord is allowing me to go to her now, which may shortened the Philippines trip. Please pray for wisdom as I answer a higher calling, if my sister invites me into this painful time. Seeing her younger brother could be mixed-bag of emotions from the past. However, I sense she needs my encouragement; in spite of my past behavior. We serve a big God whom is at work healing a multitude of afflictions as we intercede for one another in prayer.

My sister, Bethy, is the only one who calls me Danny and I want a BIG sister hug. She has two young children, Marissa and Stone, and a husband, Jim.

Synchronicity

Dictionary - Yahoo! Reference

Can we formulate Biblically sound doctrine on this psychological theory called synchronicity?

submitted by Jodi [Matthew 18:20]

This e-mail made my day! Does this count under Matthew 18:20? For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
If we could all get back to how we were as children, this world would be a very different place.
Blessing to all,
Jodi
