Catawba River - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "The Catawba River is a tributary of the Wateree River in the U.S. states of North Carolina and South Carolina. The river is approximately 220 miles (350 km) long. It rises in the Appalachian Mountains and drains into Piedmont, and is impounded through series of reservoirs for flood control and hydroelectricity.

It rises in the Blue Ridge Mountains in western McDowell County, North Carolina, approximately 20 miles (30 km) east of Asheville. It flows ENE, passing north of Morganton, then southeast through the Lake Norman reservoir. From Lake Norman it flows south, passing west of Charlotte, then flowing through the Mountain Island Lake and Lake Wylie reservoirs, where it forms approximately 10 miles (15 km) of the border between North Carolina and South Carolina. It flows into northern South Carolina, passing east of Rock Hill, then through Fishing Creek Reservoir near Great Falls, and then into the Lake Wateree reservoir, approximately 30 miles (50 km) northeast of Columbia. Downstream from Lake Wateree, it becomes the Wateree River."

Mid-Atlantic Rail-Trails including Washington and Baltimore: "What is a Rail Trail? A Rail Trail is a recreational path which has been built in the right-of-way of an abandoned railroad. As a result of the Interstate Highway System, tens of thousands of miles of railroads have been abandoned over the past several decades. While some of these railroads have become rail trails, many of these right-of-ways are now being considered for conversion to some sort of 'green way' or recreation path. Typically, the rails and ties are removed and then the surface is improved to allow hiking ,biking, rollerblading, and/or horseback riding.

Rail trails can be great for biking and blading because railroads are designed to have very small grades, thus the resulting rail trail is nearly all flat. Also, in many situations, the right-of-ways exist in undeveloped areas away from the the hustle and bustle of everyday life. However, it should be noted that all rail trails are not created equal. While some trails have been paved or had some type of surface improvement, other trails may remain in a 'original ballast' condition which is typically muddy and rocky (not suitable for blading or skinny tires!).

Most of the book of Hebrews tells us how Christ is greater than the sacrificial system. There may be a time coming when you find it necessary to leave your 'camp' and suffer with Christ. Jesus suffered humiliation and uncleanness outside the Jerusalem gates on our behalf. The time is coming when Christians will be called on to declare their loyalty to Christ above any other loyalty, to choose to follow Jesus whatever suffering that might bring. We will be called to move outside the safe confinement of our past, our traditions, and our ceremonies to live for Christ.

Christ calls us to leave the familiar, the distracting world of our lower senses and abide in Him. The highest goal of our prayer is to find God. Today, seek Him until you find Him. Continue day by day, week by week, until you have drawn near enough to God that you can hear His voice. Become so confident that He is near to you that you hear know He hears you even when you whisper.

"Come near to God and he will come near to you." (James 4:8)

If we are going to become holy as He is holy, we must recognize that Jesus has already broken our chains and restraints of just getting by and living an average life. We must choose to go outside the camp of familiarity and abide in the tent of God's presence."

What God Sees When He Sees You 08/29/2006 Your sin has been dealt with. Your Father has removed it from you "as far as the east is from the west" (Ps. 103:12). Your sins have been washed away (1 Cor. 6:11). When God looks at you he does not see your sin. He has not one condemning thought toward you (Rom. 8:1). But that's not all. You have a new heart. That's the promise of the new covenant: "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws" (Ezek. 36:26 –27). There's a reason that it's called good news. Too many Christians today are living back in the old covenant. They've had Jeremiah 17:9 drilled into them and they walk around believing my heart is deceitfully wicked. Not anymore it's not. Read the rest of the book. In Jeremiah 31:33, God announces the cure for all that: "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people." I will give you a new heart. That's why Paul says in Romans 2:29, "No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit." Sin is not the deepest thing about you. You have a new heart. Did you hear me? Your heart is good. What God sees when he sees you is the real you, the true you, the man he had in mind when he made you. Sadly, most men abandon those dreams and desires--aided by a Christianity that feels like nothing more than pressure to be a nice guy. It is no wonder that many men avoid church, and those who go are often passive and bored to death.

Now, in all your boyhood dreams growing up, did you ever dream of becoming a nice guy? Ladies, was the Prince of your dreams dashing... or merely nice? "We've taken away the dreams of a man's heart and told him to play the man." As C.S. Lewis said, 'We castrate the gelding and bid him be fruitful."

Now may the Lord direct your hearts into…

Gentlemen,

In my devotions today I was impacted through a Scripture verse, 2 Thessalonians 3:5. As we venture into the exploring for the hidden desires of a man's heart, consider this, "Now may the Lord direct your hearts into…" My struggle is confusing the emotions/feelings with my heart's desire. Here Paul, a man's man, exhorts us to choose this "now." We may allow the Lord to "direct" us. Therefore the desires of our heart are given by the Lord and our emotions/feelings flows from our hearts as a result. Now we are embraced the "love" and "patience" of our Lord as He expresses them. Consider also 1 Chronicles 29:18, "O Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the intent of the thoughts of the heart of Your people, and fix their heart towards You. We have a choice. As we express our next emotions, could they be from a hidden desire in our masculine hearts?

If choose to continue reading in 2 Thessalonians 3, Paul give us some specific direction on how we should walk. This walk is easier to take when a man has found the desires of his heart. Agree? Amen!

Then to Adam He said, 'Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it': 'Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life.-Genesis 3:17 (NKJV)

We may call it a lot of different things-business, occupation, career, calling, vocation, livelihood, practice, or profession-but in the end, it's all the same thing . . . work. Something often happens in our hearts when the word work is mentioned, a heaviness that makes our shoulders slump.

The average person doesn't enjoy working. Many refer to the start of the work week as Monday moanin'. Why is that? How is it that the human race has come to have such resentment for something that's such an integral part of life?

The answer is given to us in the first few chapters of Genesis. God created man and gave him the responsibility to tend, serve, and care for the rest of His creation (Genesis 1:15). This was intended to give man a sense of purpose and fulfillment. However, when man sinned, it altered his environment. The world became a hostile place-tending turned into toiling; serving, into sweating; and caring for God's creation, into a curse. This is the world's outlook on work. It's"
