'I have four specific recordings of angels singing in church settings,' Jim Bramlett of Lake Mary, Fla., told WND. 'It happened supernaturally. There's no other explanation. It's either from God or from the devil, and I don't think the devil is in the business of worshipping Jesus. That is not in his job description.'
Bramlett, 76, collected the tapes from various sources in recent years, and has now put them on his ChoicesForLiving website, where readers can click on several links to listen to three recordings made in the U.S., and one from China.

This is a fellow who's hooked his star to criticizing somebody. There's so many over-the-top things about it. There are lots of churches in Damascus [Syria]. I asked one person. He said maybe two or three hundred in Damascus. Most of them are the traditional churches. There's Syrian Orthodox and there's Greek Orthodox. But I met with the head of the evangelicals. He said they're getting ready to go into the building program because the Presbyterian church he leads—they've run out of space.
I will go anywhere in the world if I'm allowed to preach the gospel without hindrance. I'd go to Iran; I'd go to Syria; I'd go to North Korea. A lot of the criticisms have come from people who politicize the Christian faith. To them, politics is more important than winning people to Christ. In fact, I think one of the greatest damages to the church in the last 20 years has been the politicization of the church. I'm also tired of the church being known simply as a political tool and being co-opted by politicians."

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a
day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of
him when the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty
mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the
students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar
He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the
golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They
agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of
course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar
was full. The students responded with a unanimous "yes. "
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and
poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space
between the sand. The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize
that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important
things---God, your family, your children, your health, your friends and your
favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they
remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things
that matter like your job, your house and your car. The sand is everything
else---the small stuff."
"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room
for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all
your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the
things that are important to you."
"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with
your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take
time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. There will
always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set your
priorities. The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee
represented. The professor smiled and said, "I'm glad you asked."
"The coffee just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem,
There is always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

Under the program, inmates live in a separate unit and attend classes on subjects including computer skills and anger management. They also participate in religious devotionals.
After being released from prison, participants receive guidance from a mentor and a local religious group for at least six months.
The program, operated by Prison Fellowship Ministries, was dedicated for the Tucker Unit in June and 99 men are participating in the program. Mark Earley, the program's president and chief executive officer, says the women's program has a capacity for 50 prisoners and the men's unit can take 120."

A Compassionate Community

Christians are wealthy people. I'm not speaking in mere monetary terms but in a more significant and spiritual sense. We know why we've been placed here on earth and what we're supposed to do with our lives. We have a sense of identity and acceptance. We enjoy God's grace, forgiveness, and peace. And in addition to all this, we're part of a special community, a compassionate community.
Believers are also bound by a special bond--the love of God, which has been poured out upon our hearts. It fills our lives, overflows, and extends toward other believers, resulting in a network of men and women, brothers and sisters, who love each other in the truest and purest sense. We have one another's welfare at heart and pool our resources in order to meet the needs of our family members in the faith.
I've seen this compassionate community countless times. A single mom needs a new set of tires, and a brother in Christ who sells tires takes care of it. An elderly couple needs help moving, and a group of godly guys pitch in and make the move happen. A college student needs help with his thesis, and another saint who's academically gifted comes alongside to point him in the right direction.
The scenarios are endless, but the principle is always the same. As Christians we're compelled to meet each other's needs because God's love supernaturally motivates us to care for one another. We're interconnected as a compassionate community, which makes us wealthier than those of this world.

The prophecy above was delivered by the prophet Joel sometime around 800 B.C. It's a prophecy packed with a promise that was almost unthinkable at the time: God would pour out His Spirit on all flesh--men and women, young and old.
This was amazing because up until that time, God's Spirit only had come upon certain people for certain situations, such as Moses' elders (Numbers 11:25) and Samson (Judges 14:19). It had been like that for many centuries until God's Spirit was poured out upon the early church:
Suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:2-4 NKJV)
Bystanders couldn't figure out what was happening, and assumed that the first disciples were drunk. Peter stood up and set the record straight:
'But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. . . . Joel's prophecy had been fulfilled and continues to be fulfilled as we who comprise the Christian church are filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). True to His Word, God has poured out His Spirit on all flesh--men and women, young and old, Jew and Gentile. Anyone from anywhere can experience the blessing of God's Spirit if he or she is in Christ (Galatians 3:28)."

That's what Mel has done again. He's made a heart-stopping, mythic action-adventure that tells an ancient story in a way that matters. During the process of releasing the “Passion,” Mel realized a tremendous hunger in the audience for a different kind of film. Talking about his reasoning for making “Apocalypto” he said, “People want big stories that say something to them emotionally and touch them spiritually.”
Of all of his past films, this one most resembles “Braveheart.” The only difference is that it takes place in an ancient Mayan jungle, is spoken in the ancient Mayan language, and is represented by a bunch of unknown actors"

Take Interstate I-40 West from Asheville to the Candler/Enka exit. Turn right onto U.S. 19/23 West and follow 19/23 for several miles. Turn left onto NC 151. Originally an access road to Mount Pisgah, this road makes a winding assent, then twists steeply for the last few miles before reaching the Parkway. At the Blue Ridge Parkway turn right toward Mount Pisgah. Follow the Parkway South to Milepost 407.6 where you will find parking and the trailhead to Mount Pisgah. Mount Pisgah was named after the biblical mountain from which Moses first saw the “promised land.” If you are interested in taking a hike, the trail length is 1.5 miles one way and is considered strenuous because of its elevation gain. To return to Asheville, take the Blue Ridge Parkway North to U.S. 191 (Brevard Rd). This is also the exit for the N.C. Arboretum. Turn left onto U. S. 191 and follow the road to I-240 East. To return to downtown Asheville, follow I-240 East and exit any of the downtown exits."

Theologians and Bible teachers have told many of us that God is “impassable,” that he does not experience emotion as we humans do. Is that what you find when you read Isaiah or Jeremiah or Hosea? A. W. Tozer pleads in The Pursuit of God: “We have almost forgotten that God is a person . . . and in the deep of his mighty nature he thinks, wills, enjoys, feels, loves, desires and suffers as any other person may.”
In Disappointment with God, Phil Yancey tells of going to a cabin in the mountains in Colorado to face his doubts about God and to read the Bible for himself. What he discovered changed his life:
Simply reading the Bible, I encountered not a misty vapor but an actual Person. A Person as unique and distinctive and colorful as any person I know. God has deep emotions; he feels delight and frustration and anger . . . As I read through the Bible in my winter aerie, I marveled at how much God lets human beings affect him. I was unprepared for the joy and anguish— in short, the passion—of the God of the Universe. By studying “about” God, by taming him and reducing him to words and concepts that could be filed away in alphabetical order, I had lost the force of the passionate relationship God seeks above all else. The people who related to God best—Abraham, Moses, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah—treated him with startling familiarity. They talked to God as if he were sitting in a chair beside them, as one might talk to a counselor, a boss, a parent, or a lover. They treated him like a person.

Another great Ethiopian idiosyncrasy that confounds many travelers is the calendar. Based on the Julian system, it is roughly 7 ½ years ‘behind’ the Western Gregorian calendar. The year 2006-07 is thus ‘1999’ in the Ethiopian calendar, where ‘1999’ begins in September 2006. Just to confuse you thoroughly, the Ethiopian fiscal year begins on 8 July, and the Ethiopian New Year is rung in on 11 September. The Julian calendar is named after Julius Caeser, and developed as a result of a dispute over the exact date of Christ’s birth. The Julian calendar is made up of 12 months of 30 days each and a 13th month of five or six days. Hence the Ethiopian Tourism Council challenge to “Visit Ethiopia and be seven years younger”!

Of course, small groups have become a part of the programming most churches offer their people. For the most part, they are disappointing and short-lived—by the very admission of those who try them. There are two reasons. One, you can’t just throw a random group of people together for a twelve-week study of some kind and expect them to become intimate allies. The sort of devotion we want and need takes place within a shared life. Over the years our fellowship has gone camping together. We play together; help one another move; paint a room; find work. We throw great parties. We fight for each other, live in the Four Streams. This is how it was meant to be.

Christ calls us to leave the familiar, the distracting world of our lower senses and abide in Him. The highest goal of our prayer is to find God. Today, seek Him until you find Him. Continue day by day, week by week, until you have drawn near enough to God that you can hear His voice. Become so confident that He is near to you that you hear know He hears you even when you whisper.
"Come near to God and he will come near to you." (James 4:8)
If we are going to become holy as He is holy, we must recognize that Jesus has already broken our chains and restraints of just getting by and living an average life. We must choose to go outside the camp of familiarity and abide in the tent of God's presence."

Your sins have been washed away (1 Cor. 6:11). When God looks at you he does not see your sin. He has not one condemning thought toward you (Rom. 8:1). But that's not all. You have a new heart. That's the promise of the new covenant: "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws" (Ezek. 36:26 –27). There's a reason that it's called good news. Now may the Lord direct your hearts into…
Gentlemen,
In my devotions today I was impacted through a Scripture verse, 2 Thessalonians 3:5. As we venture into the exploring for the hidden desires of a man's heart, consider this, "Now may the Lord direct your hearts into…" My struggle is confusing the emotions/feelings with my heart's desire. Here Paul, a man's man, exhorts us to choose this "now." We may allow the Lord to "direct" us. Therefore the desires of our heart are given by the Lord and our emotions/feelings flows from our hearts as a result. Now we are embraced the "love" and "patience" of our Lord as He expresses them. Consider also 1 Chronicles 29:18, "O Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the intent of the thoughts of the heart of Your people, and fix their heart towards You. We have a choice. As we express our next emotions, could they be from a hidden desire in our masculine hearts?
If choose to continue reading in 2 Thessalonians 3, Paul give us some specific direction on how we should walk. This walk is easier to take when a man has found the desires of his heart. Agree? Amen!

Devotional for August 25, 2006: "Character Profile: Your Work Ethic, Part 2
Then to Adam He said, 'Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it': 'Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life.-Genesis 3:17 (NKJV)
We may call it a lot of different things-business, occupation, career, calling, vocation, livelihood, practice, or profession-but in the end, it's all the same thing . . . work. Something often happens in our hearts when the word work is mentioned, a heaviness that makes our shoulders slump.
The average person doesn't enjoy working. Many refer to the start of the work week as Monday moanin'. Why is that? How is it that the human race has come to have such resentment for something that's such an integral part of life?
The answer is given to us in the first few chapters of Genesis. God created man and gave him the responsibility to tend, serve, and care for the rest of His creation (Genesis 1:15). This was intended to give man a sense of purpose and fulfillment. However, when man sinned, it altered his environment. The world became a hostile place-tending turned into toiling; serving, into sweating; and caring for God's creation, into a curse. This is the world's outlook on work. It's"
