Why did God put me here?” It’s a simple question to ask and, at times, a very complicated question to answer.
As you seek to discover (or perhaps, to rediscover) God’s plan for your life, you should start by remembering this: You are here because God put you here, and He did so for a very good reason: His reason.
At times, you may be confident that you are doing God’s will. But on other occasions, you may be uncertain about the direction that your life should take. At times, you may wander aimlessly in a wilderness of your own making. And sometimes, you may struggle mightily against God in a vain effort to find success and happiness through your own means, not His. But wherever you find yourself—whether on the mountaintops, in the valleys, or at the crossroads of life—you may be assured that God is there . . . and you may be assured that He has a plan.
If you manage to align yourself with God’s plan for your life, you will be energized, you will be enthused, and you will be blessed. That’s why you should strive mightily to understand what it is that God wants you to do. But how can you know precisely what God’s intentions are? The answer, of course, is that even the most well- intentioned believers face periods of uncertainty and doubt about the direction of their lives. So, too, will you.
When you arrive at one of life’s inevitable crossroads, that’s the moment when you should turn your thoughts and prayers toward God. When you do, He will make Himself known to you in a time and manner of His choosing. When you discover God’s plan for your life, you will experience abundance, peace, joy, and power— God’s power.
And that’s the only kind of power that really matters.

“If a little’s good, a lot’s got to be better.” You’ve probably applied that principle at times in your life and found it’s not always true. For example, a small amount of pie is good, but a lot is fattening. A small dose of fertilizer helps a plant grow, but a lot will kill it. A little ingredient in a recipe makes it perfect, but a lot makes it a disaster. But there are some areas of life where a lot is always better: prayer, for example.
Jesus once told His disciples something that no doubt amazed them: They would do greater works than He had done. He was leaving the earth and returning to heaven and was commissioning them to continue His words and works—but on a grander scale! While they were pondering that revelation, He told them how it would be possible: through prayer. The works (John 14:12) can only be accomplished through prayer (John 14:13). Imagine the kinds of works we could do if we prayed more than we do! Prayer is an area of the spiritual life where a lot is always better.
If you would like to accomplish greater works for Christ in your life, try starting with prayer. The greater the prayer to God, the greater the works for God.

This is a tribute from my Cousin Heidi to my Uncle Jack for Father's Day.
Uncle Jack is 80 this year.
A gathering is planned next weekend to commemorate the event.
I am told second-hand that there is an open invitation to extended family members to some part of the event.
I do not have all of the details, but it is at the Yacht Club near Buffalo.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend.
However, I would love to reunite with my Uncle Jack someday.

Here’s a scary thought: the content of your character is demonstrated by the way you choose to spend money. If you spend money wisely, and if you give God His fair share, then you’re doing just fine. But if you’re up to your eyeballs in debt, and if “shop till you drop” is your unofficial motto, it’s time to retire the credit cards and rearrange your priorities.
Our society is in love with money and the things that money can buy. God is not. God cares about people, not possessions, and so must we. We must, to the best of our abilities, love our neighbors as ourselves, and we must, to the best of our abilities, resist the mighty temptation to place possessions ahead of people.
Money, in and of itself, is not evil; worshipping money is. So today, as you prioritize matters of importance for you and yours, remember that God is almighty, but the dollar is not.
Are you choosing to make money your master? If so, it’s time to turn your thoughts and your prayers to more important matters. And, it’s time to begin storing up riches that will endure throughout eternity: the spiritual kind.

Wow! A surprise party!
My friends threw me a surprise party!
You will never know how much you touched my heart today.
After I got into my car I asked myself, "why we are going to a restaurant by my place when those guys live on the other side of town."
I ignored the feeling and continued on the cellphone while cruising the Interstate.
So, I was returning my brother Michael's call when I pulled into the parking lot.
"Wait a minute! What's Jerry's car doing here?", I pondered.
The last thing I said to my brother was "There's a group of my friends in there!"
I missed my sister, Cheryl's call and wanted thank her for the meaningful gift too.
All 50 of them!
Gifts, cards and candles on a "Danish" cake!
What da heck!
Charlie called me afterwards.
He told me everybody got an email message from Gwen.
No body copied me! I always left out of the fun stuff.
Rosemary, I'll pray that the Lord sends an angel in the form of garage door mechanic.
Tom, Joe and Kevin, thanks for your words of kindness via electronic means.
Be safe out there!
I will treasure to my new backpack, especially since now Kristin doesn't have one like it.
Why do I all of sudden this strange feeling of deja vu?
It's like I am at my birthday party when I was 5 years old again. "Mine!"

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY...."KURT'S HOUSE"....READ ON!!!
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I hope you are all doing very well in the Lord Jesus Christ! It is hard to imagine that four months have passed since our brother Kurt went home. Times passes too quickly, but, our memories remain and soon enough we will see our brother again in Glory!
Having said that, and while we wait to reunite with him, I want to share with each of you dear friends of an opportunity to honor Kurt, his legacy and his desire to serve God's least. I'd ask for you to prayerfully consider the following.
Kurt's Heartbeat
Hoskin's Park Ministries, the ministry Kurt's good friend Tom Wheeler runs, recently purchased another new home and has welcomed the opportunity to name it "Kurt's House". The heartbeat of Kurt and HPM are identical: to minister to the "least and the lost", which is consistent with Jesus' personal teaching, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:40. This new house will be used to touch and transform the lives of many who truly are "the least and the lost" for years and years to come.
Kurt's House
As it goes, Kurt's House requires about $25-30K to renovate. The house was purchased for a nominal price but in order to bring it up to proper standards, the ministry needs to raise this amount of money; and time is of the essence. Since I am close to Tom and the ministry, I know the funds will be used appropriately to provide housing for either women and children, or men. Right now a single mom and her kids are waiting for a HPM house. HPM wants to have them in this house in the next two months. Since HPM has done this before (they now have 17 houses, housing & ministering approx. 60 men, women and children), I can assure you they know what they are doing.
Our Opportunity
Personally, my wife and I, after seeking the Lord, have committed $1,200 to make Kurt's House a reality. Dear Team...Jerry & I had the privilege of going out to Hoskins Park for the first time a couple of weeks ago...we were SO amazed at how this ministry is not only transforming the lives of the men and women who are participating in the ministry of Hoskins Park..but the whole neighborhood is being transformed...really, it is!!! I'm also attaching a copy of "Kurt's Tribute" that Scott put together..the "Tribute" is a compilation of many of the e-mails and notes that came to Kurt prior to his "homegoing"..you'll be blessed, encouraged and inspired as you read once again the story of the life of Christ being lived out with abandon through Kurt. We'll keep you updated as to how the funds for the renovation of "Kurt's House" are coming along in the weeks ahead. Wouldn't it be GREAT if we could hold another "Worship/Celebration on the Grounds" of the new "Kurt House"..like we did last October?!!

Walking With God - Blogs: "Build a Bigger Fire
I’m back home after this amazing Tour. It was beautiful, and exhausting. A marathon, and God was in it. It was demanding, and hard, but mostly it was beautiful. And filled with greater meaning. Something really important is taking place. Something really big.
Several years ago I was backpacking alone in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness in Colorado. It’s something I try and do once a year, that is, head to the high country for some time alone with God. I was camped on a high shelf in a high valley. It was June, and there were still patches of snow. The days were warm but the nights were cold. One evening after dinner I was just sitting in camp as the sun set, not really wanting to go to bed but too cold to enjoy the evening. I was sitting sort of hunched over, my arms wrapped round my legs, when God said, “Build a fire.” I don’t normally build campfires when I’m alone; usually when it gets dark I’m in my bag in the tent, reading by headlamp. But I clearly heard him say, “Build a fire.” My first thought was where am I going to get dry wood? I stood up, and turned toward a line of tall spruce trees about thirty yards behind me. Though it was a long line of trees, my eyes went immediately to one tree in particular, to the base, and there, under a canopy of boughs, was a pile of firewood. Stacked. Under the tree. Not broken or gathered, but actually cut with a saw. How, in this remote valley, in this secluded spot, under one of a hundred trees, was it possible I would find an abundance of dry wood neatly cut and stacked??!!

I slowly turned around, slowly doing a 360, to look behind me, around me, fully expecting Jesus himself to be standing there, smiling. You can understand, I was blown away. I gathered some wood, and made a fire ring. But I made it small, like an Indian fire for one person, and the wood God had provided did not fit. He spoke again. “Build a bigger fire.” I pushed out the stones, made a bigger ring, stacked the wood and let ‘er blaze. I knew it was a moment filled with greater meaning. A prophetic moment, if you will.
Standing each night on stage during this tour, looking out at the bright eyes and earnest faces eager to connect with God, eager to live this life he is calling us to live, eager to share it with others, I realized. Here is the bigger fire. You are the bigger fire. It’s come true.

| I was the one who stacked that wood under a tree by your camp, as is my practice, to leave some wood for others. I don't do it for God, I do it as a gift to you, or anyone in need who comes along. You are not the only one who travels alone in the wilderness. Should I take credit for doing this small good deed? Of course! God didn't do it, I did it. God is my companion, not my being. Jesus is my teacher, not my soul. I have my own spirit, my own soul. Incidentally, John, the heart is a muscle in the body cavity that pumps blood. You claim to be enlightened, but you preach the ignorance of the past. Too bad. |

Whether you realize it or not, many people with whom you come in contact every day are in desperate need of a smile or an encouraging word. The world can be a difficult place, and countless friends and family members may be troubled by the challenges of everyday life. Since we don’t always know who needs our help, the best strategy is to encourage all the people who cross our paths. So today, be a world-class source of encouragement to everyone you meet. Never has the need been greater.

'Remember, the purpose of this thing called the Christian life is that our hearts might be restored and set free. That’s the deal. That’s what Jesus came to do, by his own announcement. Jesus wants Life for us, Life with a capital L, and that Life comes to us through our hearts. But restoring and releasing the heart is no easy project. God doesn’t just throw a switch and poof—it’s done. He sends his Counselor to walk with us instead. That tells us it’s going to be a process. All sorts of damage has been done to your heart over the years, all sorts of terrible things taken in—by sin, by those who should have known better, and by our Enemy, who seeks to steal and kill and destroy the image bearers of God. At best, “hope deferred makes the heart sick” (Prov. 13:12). Certainly there’s been a bit of that in your life. “Even in laughter the heart may ache” (Prov. 14:13), which is to say, things may look fine on the outside, but inside it’s another story.
We’re told to “trust in the LORD” with all our hearts (Prov. 3:5), but frankly, we find it hard to do. Does trust come easily for you? I would love to trust God wholeheartedly. Why is it almost second nature to worry about things? We’re told to love one another deeply, “from the heart” (1 Peter 1:22), but that’s even more rare. Why is it so easy to get angry at, or to resent, or simply to grow indifferent toward the very people we once loved? The answers lie down in the heart. “For it is with your heart that you believe,” Paul says (Rom. 10:10). And in Proverbs we read, “The heart of a man is like deep water, but a man of understanding draws it out” (20:5 NASB). Our deepest convictions—the ones that really shape our lives—they are down there somewhere in the depths of our hearts.
